OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/21/2022, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team attempted to arrest Hector Javier Crespo-Rodriguez near 4200 West 4100 South in West Valley City. Authorities said Crespo-Rodriguez had outstanding warrants and was wanted in connection with a prior shooting. During the arrest attempt, officers opened fire. Crespo-Rodriguez was transported to a hospital where he died from gunshot wounds. The Salt Lake City Police Department conducted the officer-involved critical incident investigation and later presented findings to the Salt Lake County District Attorney.
