OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/28/2022, Brooklyn Park police responded to reports of gunshots in the 8700 block of Maplebrook Parkway North. The first officer on scene was fired on by a man, with rounds striking the patrol vehicle. The officer was not injured and called for backup. Following the exchange of gunfire, a 911 caller reported that the man had shot himself in a nearby driveway. Officers located the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound with a firearm recovered at the scene. Preliminary information suggests the incident stemmed from a domestic situation.
