On 09/20/2023, Pullman Police responded to a report of a man with a gun near Golden Hills Dr and Wawawai Rd. Officers attempted to locate him, leading to a standoff situation while law enforcement actively searched and contained the area. During the incident, the man reportedly fired a shot while officers were trying to find him. As police presence and containment continued, the man shot himself and died from a self inflicted gunshot wound.
