OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/14/2023, Ogemaw County Sheriff’s deputies engaged in a high speed vehicle pursuit that continued along M-61 near Buckeye Township, approximately 1.5 miles east of M-30. During the active police chase and containment effort, the 60 year old man stopped and shot himself. He died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Reporting indicated one shotgun involved and confirmed the death occurred during the ongoing law enforcement pursuit rather than prior to police contact.
