On 09/10/2023, Cambridge police officers responded to the 6200 block of Periwinkle Court for a domestic disturbance involving a man and his significant other. During the incident, the 54-year-old man shot and injured the woman with a 20 gauge shotgun. Police arrived and the man barricaded himself inside the residence while armed. Officers established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate. During the standoff, the man shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police confirmed one firearm was involved. Authorities transported the injured woman for medical treatment. The Maryland State Police are investigating.
