On 08/29/2023, Denver police officers responded to the 6300 block of East Hampden Avenue after reports of an armed individual. Officers encountered the person and initiated a standoff. Police established a perimeter and issued commands. During the confrontation, the individual shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported one firearm was involved. Denver Police Department did not release the individual’s name. The agency is reviewing the incident.
