On 08/27/2023, Union Township police officers responded to Powderhorn Drive after a woman was found dead inside a residence with visible head injuries. Authorities identified William Pratt, 55, as her husband. Police reported that Pratt confessed to killing his wife. Officers began searching for him and tracked him to Applewood Drive in Fairfield. As officers approached the residence to locate him, Pratt shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Court records showed a protective order had previously been filed against him. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the case.
