OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/20/2023, Amarillo police officers and the Critical Incident Response Team responded to the Relax Inn at 6030 I-40 West for a barricaded individual. Timothy R Murray, 45, remained inside a hotel room while officers established a perimeter and deployed SWAT resources. Officers attempted to negotiate during the standoff. During the confrontation with law enforcement outside, Murray shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported one firearm was involved. The Amarillo Police Department is reviewing the incident.
