OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/16/2023, Garland County deputies responded to the 500 block of Jack Mountain Road in Hot Springs National Park for an armed situation involving an adult male. Deputies encountered the man and established a perimeter, initiating a standoff. Officers attempted to negotiate while the man remained armed. During the confrontation with law enforcement outside, the man shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported one firearm was involved. The Garland County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing the incident.
