OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2023, Wilkes County deputies and first responders were present at 470 North Caudill Road in North Wilkesboro when Daniel Long, 21, shot and killed 19-year-old Jenna Boles, an EMT and his girlfriend, with a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle. Authorities reported that first responders and law enforcement were on location when Long remained inside a vehicle. During the confrontation with deputies outside, Long shot himself with a handgun. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators confirmed the incident resulted in the deaths of both individuals.
