On 08/08/2023, Huntsville police officers responded to Ditto Landing at 293 Ditto Landing Road SE after reports of a person with a gun. Officers located an adult male at the marina area and established a perimeter. Police issued commands while maintaining distance during the armed confrontation. During the encounter with officers present, the man shot himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported one firearm was involved. The Huntsville Police Department is reviewing the incident.
