On 07/21/2023, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Investigations Unit were searching for a man wanted in connection with a recent homicide investigation. Deputies identified Manny Jesus Rodriquez near the 100 block of West 36th Street and began following him. Rodriquez ran, and deputies chased him on foot. During the pursuit, a deputy opened fire and struck him. Rodriquez died from a gunshot wound. Authorities reported that a firearm was recovered near him after the shooting. The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team investigated the shooting.
