On 12/14/2023, a Blooming Prairie police officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle near Main St E and 3rd Ave SE for a reported equipment violation involving a taillight. After pulling over, the male driver produced a firearm and shot himself during the stop. Authorities stated there was no verbal exchange before the gunshot.
