On 12/03/2023, Broken Arrow police responded to a call for service in a residential area and located a vehicle associated with the incident. Officers initiated a traffic stop around the 8000 block of South Willow Springs Court. Authorities reported the driver, later identified as 54 year old Troy Anspaw, did not comply with commands and exited the vehicle holding a gun. Officers opened fire and struck him. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Body camera footage later released by police captured the man stating he wanted to die when questioned about exiting the vehicle with a gun.
