On 11/30/2023, law enforcement located 27 year old Brian Holben in a camper in Caroline County after a multi agency manhunt that followed an earlier exchange of gunfire with Delaware State Police during an attempted traffic stop in Greenwood. Authorities reported Holben refused to surrender and barricaded himself inside the camper while officers attempted to negotiate. After entry was made following unsuccessful negotiations, officers found him dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators confirmed his death was not caused by police gunfire and occurred during the search warrant and standoff operation.
