OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 11/16/2023, police responded to an active shooting at the Mentor Green Mobile Home Park on Mentor Avenue where multiple residents had been shot. Officers located several victims and established a perimeter while the shooter, Jason Norris, barricaded himself inside his mobile home and fired additional rounds toward responding officers. Police did not return fire and initiated a standoff with negotiators and tactical units. After several hours without contact, a drone was deployed into the residence and officers observed Norris deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound inside the home. Authorities confirmed his death occurred during the active police standoff and was not caused by police gunfire.
