On 11/16/2023, Beaverton police executed a search warrant at The Park at Allen Apartments on SW Allen Boulevard as part of an investigation involving 67 year old Steven Eugene Wells. When detectives arrived, Wells armed himself with a handgun, prompting officers to withdraw and evacuate nearby residents. Crisis negotiators and tactical teams established a perimeter and attempted to communicate with him during a prolonged standoff. After hours of negotiations, Wells took his own life inside the apartment while alone.
