OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/19/2023, a passerby called police to report a man standing on the corner of E New St and N Queen St with a gun. Lancaster Bureau of Police officers responded and approached the man on foot. As officers moved in to make contact, the man shot himself in the head. Officers did not fire their weapons. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have not publicly released his name.
