On 07/20/2025, California Highway Patrol Officer Angelo Rodriguez drove at least 130 mph on duty in Norwalk without lights or sirens and rear-ended a Nissan driven by Julie Harmori. Prosecutors said Rodriguez took no steps to manage the crash and left shortly after. Minutes later, a second vehicle struck the disabled Nissan, which caught fire. Harmori and three passengers died from injuries sustained in the second collision. Rodriguez was later charged with second-degree murder and fired from the patrol.
