On 07/20/2025, California Highway Patrol Officer Angelo Rodriguez drove about 130 mph in Norwalk without lights or sirens and rear ended a Nissan. The crash left the vehicle disabled in traffic where it was struck again and caught fire. Alexa Lopez, a 14 year old passenger, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities later charged Rodriguez with second degree murder, alleging his driving set off the fatal chain of events.
