On 06/09/2025, officers with the Allen County Drug Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle during a drug investigation on North Clinton Street. The driver did not stop. Officers chased the vehicle through Fort Wayne. During the pursuit, the fleeing driver ran into multiple vehicles at the intersection of North Clinton Street and East Wallen Road. The crash critically injured Carolyn Hutchinson, who was driving one of the struck vehicles. She later died from injuries caused by the collision. Court records later showed the driver, Tyler Alberding, fled while discarding suspected methamphetamine and has since taken a plea deal tied to the crash.
