Event : Motorcycle driver killed by police chase crash

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/21/2025, an Escondido Police officer attempted to stop Jacob Illian while he was riding an electric motorcycle on a bike path near Valley Parkway and Rose Street. Police alleged that Illian did not yield and a pursuit began. During the pursuit, Illian collided with a police vehicle operated by Officer Jason Ingco and suffered fatal injuries. Because an Escondido police vehicle was involved, the Oceanside Police Department conducted the investigation under a mutual aid agreement. On 06/04/2026, the San Diego County District Attorney announced that Officer Jason Ingco had been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in connection with the crash. Ingco pleaded not guilty and was placed on paid administrative leave.
