Per GBI’s website, Clayton County PD claim that on Sunday, October 1, 2023, a CCPD officer was near Kendrick Road in Jonesboro, GA when he saw Richard Preston Johnson, 35, motioning his hand towards the officer as if he were pointing a gun at him. The officer approached him and he ran away. The officer chased Johnson behind a home. Police allege that behind the house, Johnson pointed it towards the officer. The officer fired his gun, killing Johnson. No BWC or eyewitnesses have surfaced so far to verify this police narrative.
