OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 09/11/2021, at approximately 10:09 p.m., a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped an SUV for a tail-light violation in the 3000 block of Interstate 35 North southbound near Hormel Drive. William Frank Hull Jr., also known as William Albert Conort IV, was a passenger in the SUV.

According to BCSO, Hull got out carrying a backpack and ran from the traffic stop. The deputy called for assistance, and a second deputy pursued Hull on foot.

BCSO alleged that Hull fired at least one gunshot at the pursuing deputy. Sheriff Javier Salazar said the deputy took cover or concealment, retrieved his patrol rifle and returned fire, firing at least two rounds and striking Hull in the upper body. Hull died at the scene.

BCSO reported recovering a 9mm semiautomatic handgun attributed to Hull and subsequently said the firearm had been reported stolen.

The deputy who killed Hull was a BCSO SWAT member. The deputy was placed on administrative leave while the shooting was reviewed by BCSO Internal Affairs and the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.
