NARRATIVE:
On 04/09/2021, 23-year-old Deterrius Minor was killed while riding as a passenger in an Infiniti Q50 that crashed during a Georgia State Patrol pursuit in Atlanta. Fellow passenger Devin Jones Jr., 22, was also killed.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop the Infiniti for speeding on northbound Interstate 85. Driver Kenneth Poole continued away from the attempted stop and the trooper pursued.

The Infiniti entered Georgia 400 during the pursuit. Police reported that Poole turned off the vehicle's headlights while continuing at high speed in an effort to get away from the trooper.

Poole exited Georgia 400 onto Lenox Road in Buckhead. He lost control of the Infiniti, which traveled across the intersection, struck a concrete wall, overturned and caught fire.

The pursuing trooper reached the wreck and extinguished the fire. Minor and Jones sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Poole survived the collision with serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

All three occupants were from Memphis, Tennessee. Authorities identified the two passengers killed as Deterrius Minor and Devin Jones Jr.
