NARRATIVE:
On 02/23/2022, 21-year-old Derrick V. Holmes of Gasport was killed when his motorcycle crashed at Main Street and Market Street in Lockport after a pursuit initiated by New York State Police troopers.

At approximately 3:55 a.m., New York State Police troopers assigned to the Lockport barracks observed Holmes riding a motorcycle near Union Street and Washburn Street. Police reported that Holmes was not wearing a helmet and that the motorcycle was not registered.

Troopers activated their emergency lights and attempted to stop Holmes. Police reported that Holmes continued riding away and troopers pursued him.

New York State Police alleged they discontinued the pursuit. The motorcycle was subsequently located after Holmes crashed at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street.
