REASON FOR CHASE: Passenger killed during speeding pursuit; a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop the vehicle after observing it traveling more than 90 mph past the Interstate 24 truck weigh station between exits 114 and 117.

NARRATIVE:
On 03/09/2022, an unidentified rear-seat passenger was killed when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Dane Angelo Fearron of New York crashed and caught fire on Interstate 24 East near mile marker 120 after Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers initiated a traffic stop in Coffee County. A second passenger riding in the front passenger seat was also killed.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper observed Fearron's vehicle traveling more than 90 mph past the I-24 truck weigh station between exits 114 and 117. Troopers entered the interstate and activated their emergency lights and sirens.

Before troopers were able to overtake the vehicle, Fearron lost control and crashed near eastbound mile marker 120. The vehicle became engulfed in flames.

Fearron exited the vehicle and ran. Troopers apprehended him following a short foot pursuit. He was treated for minor injuries at Unity Medical Center in Manchester and subsequently booked into the Coffee County Jail.

Firefighters extinguished the burning vehicle and discovered two deceased passengers. One body was in the front passenger seat and the other, represented by this report, was in the rear passenger area. Both bodies were badly burned and were sent to the state medical examiner.

The two passengers were not the people driving the vehicle police attempted to stop.
