NARRATIVE:
On 03/23/2022, 42-year-old Juan Flores was killed along with another man when an SUV crashed and rolled while evading a San Antonio Police Department traffic stop near Interstate 35 and Walters Street.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., an SAPD officer observed the SUV being driven erratically and followed it before activating the patrol vehicle's emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The SUV accelerated away. SAPD spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez said the officer allegedly did not initiate a chase.

Within seconds, the SUV attempted to enter Interstate 35, struck a metal barrier and flipped multiple times. Flores and another man were ejected and died at the scene.

Four other men in the SUV were transported to hospitals, two in critical condition and two in serious condition. Police reported that nine people had been inside the vehicle and were still determining who had been driving.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner subsequently identified Flores and determined that he died from multiple-force injuries.
