NARRATIVE:
On 07/11/2022, 44-year-old William Thomas Bowie of Newberry was killed when the 2008 Infiniti he was driving crashed during a Cayce Police Department pursuit in Columbia, South Carolina.

The incident began after Cayce police investigated thefts from multiple vehicles at a business. Investigators identified a 2008 Infiniti and developed information identifying Bowie as the driver. Police also determined that Bowie had outstanding warrants in Richland County.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., Cayce officers located the Infiniti and attempted a traffic stop. Bowie continued away, and police initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued for approximately 15 miles. Bowie entered Interstate 26, exited and then reentered the interstate before continuing onto Interstate 77 North. He subsequently exited onto Bluff Road and turned onto Pineview Road.
