NARRATIVE:
On 07/12/2022, 32-year-old Bryan S. Bailey was killed when his motorcycle crashed at Weekapaug Road and Cove Road in Westerly, Rhode Island.

At approximately 9 p.m., a Westerly police officer observed Bailey and another motorcyclist traveling at high speed on Atlantic Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the motorcycles near Atlantic Avenue and Weekapaug Road.

Both motorcyclists accelerated away from the attempted traffic stop. Police alleged the officer discontinued the pursuit and did not continue chasing the motorcycles.

Approximately one-half mile from the attempted traffic stop, the officer encountered a motorcycle crash at Weekapaug Road and Cove Road. Bailey had been thrown from his motorcycle.

The officer provided emergency aid at the scene. Bailey was transported to Westerly Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
