NARRATIVE:
On 11/11/2022, 16-year-old Dailan Kameron Jennings of Oneonta was killed when a pickup driven by 17-year-old Ramon Maldonado-Vasquez crashed on Alabama Highway 91 near County Road 549 in Cullman County. Passengers Cayden Blake Britt, 15, and Evan Magana, 15, were also killed.

Hanceville police had received a report of an erratic driver shortly before the crash. An officer spotted what he believed was the reported pickup and turned around to follow it. Police said the pickup disappeared from the officer's view before he could catch up, while ALEA subsequently reported that Maldonado-Vasquez was attempting to elude the officer.

Maldonado-Vasquez lost control on Alabama 91 shortly after 1:00 a.m. The pickup struck a guardrail and tree and caught fire. The three passengers died at the scene, while Maldonado-Vasquez was ejected and critically injured.

Dailan had been a junior at Susan Moore High School. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
