NARRATIVE:
On 11/11/2022, 15-year-old Evan Manuel Magana of Snead was killed when a pickup driven by 17-year-old Ramon Maldonado-Vasquez crashed on Alabama Highway 91 near County Road 549 in Cullman County. Cayden Blake Britt, 15, and Dailan Kameron Jennings, 16, were also killed.

Shortly before the crash, Hanceville police received a report of an erratic driver. An officer saw what police believed was the reported pickup and turned around to follow it. Hanceville police said the pickup was out of sight before the officer could catch up, but ALEA subsequently determined that Maldonado-Vasquez was attempting to elude the officer.

Maldonado-Vasquez lost control of the pickup on Alabama 91. The vehicle struck a guardrail and then a tree before catching fire. Evan, Cayden and Dailan died at the scene. Maldonado-Vasquez was ejected and critically injured.
