NARRATIVE:
On 12/06/2022, Miguel Mendiola Gutierrez was killed when a vehicle carrying migrants crashed during a Texas Department of Public Safety pursuit in Kinney County.

During the pursuit, DPS officers deployed spike strips. The driver attempted to maneuver around the strips, lost control, and the vehicle rolled several times. At least eight occupants were thrown from the vehicle.

Mendiola Gutierrez was killed along with Luis Figueroa Gonzalez, Samuel Gonzalez Arroyo, Raul Tovar Alvarez, and John Ware. Four additional occupants were critically injured and flown to hospitals.
