NARRATIVE:
On 12/20/2022, 19-year-old Shaurome Desmond McKinney Jr. was killed when his 2021 Dodge Charger crashed during a Saginaw Police Department pursuit in Saginaw, Michigan.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m., Saginaw police attempted to stop the Charger on 20th Street north of Holland Avenue. Police did not publicly disclose why they attempted the traffic stop. McKinney continued driving and police pursued him.

The pursuit continued to Perkins Street near Fourth Street, where McKinney lost control of the Charger and struck a tree and utility pole. He was killed on impact.

McKinney, known to his family and friends as “Romo,” had graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 2022 and was working at FedEx. His family said he enjoyed basketball, cars, clothes, playing his PlayStation 5, spending time with friends and family, and making people laugh.
