On 11/09/2025, Jose M. Martinez-Peguero, 42, of Lindenwold, was killed in a police-triggered crash at Hessian and Red Bank avenues in West Deptford. Martinez-Peguero, also identified by authorities as Jose M. Martinez, was driving an uninvolved vehicle and working as an Uber driver when the fleeing vehicle crashed into his car. A passenger riding in the rear of Martinez-Peguero's vehicle suffered a fractured leg.

Patrolman Conor Goggin was driving a marked West Deptford Police Department vehicle when he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. Police alleged the driver accelerated away at high speed, disregarded a traffic signal and entered the intersection of Hessian and Red Bank avenues, where the vehicle crashed into Martinez-Peguero's car.

OFFICER BACKGROUND:
Conor Goggin was a patrolman with the West Deptford Police Department and was operating a marked police vehicle when he initiated the attempted traffic stop that preceded Martinez-Peguero's death. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office investigated his actions and presented the case to a state grand jury, which declined to indict him.
