OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/23/2022, Tarrant County Sheriff's Office deputies went to Kemal Shea's home in the 500 block of Indian Creek Drive at approximately 9:30 a.m. to serve an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The sheriff's office said Shea fired at deputies from different locations inside the house. SWAT responded, and authorities attempted to negotiate with Shea. During the barricade, the residence caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

The sheriff's office said Shea placed incendiary devices on the front porch and that a fire began near those devices. Shea's family later disputed that account in a federal civil-rights lawsuit, alleging that deputies intentionally set the house on fire and shot Shea.
