NARRATIVE:
On 10/24/2023, 29-year-old Tylon Jordan of Fayetteville was killed when the Dodge Charger in which he was a front-seat passenger crashed during a Halifax County Sheriff’s Office pursuit on Interstate 95 South near mile marker 160.5.

Deputy D. Harrison was running radar near mile marker 169 when he clocked the Charger traveling approximately 117 mph. Harrison attempted a traffic stop, and the driver turned off the vehicle’s lights and continued southbound. Harrison pursued the vehicle.

The Charger left the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned multiple times. Investigators estimated it was traveling more than 100 mph when it hit the guardrail. Jordan and the driver were ejected. Jordan died at the scene. The driver was critically injured, while two rear passengers were hospitalized in stable condition.

The driver was subsequently charged with death by motor vehicle, speeding to elude arrest, speeding, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane control.
