NARRATIVE:
On 08/23/2023, 22-year-old Aisia Robinson of Detroit was killed while riding as a passenger in an SUV that crashed during a Dearborn Police Department pursuit. Robinson was a passenger in the fleeing vehicle and was not its driver.

At approximately 10:47 p.m., Dearborn police officers were near Oakman Boulevard and South Morrow Circle when they observed the SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Marlon Desean Davis of Detroit, continued driving and police pursued the SUV.

During the pursuit, Davis struck two Dearborn police vehicles before losing control of the SUV and crashing into a utility pole at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Ford Road. Witnesses interviewed after the crash estimated that the SUV had been traveling approximately 90 mph.

Robinson and three other passengers—a 21-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl—were injured and transported to a hospital. Robinson died from the injuries she sustained in the crash. The three other passengers survived. Davis was also taken to a hospital.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office subsequently identified Robinson as a 22-year-old Detroit resident and charged Davis in connection with her death. Prosecutors charged him with first-degree fleeing and eluding, reckless driving causing death, operating with a suspended, revoked or denied license causing death, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and four counts of felony firearm. Davis was arraigned on 08/26/2023 and initially held on a $1 million cash/surety bond.

The receiving-and-concealing charge indicates that prosecutors alleged the vehicle Davis was driving was stolen. The firearm charges were filed against Davis; available reporting does not allege that Robinson possessed or used a firearm or participated in the driving that led to the pursuit.
