On September 13, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Broomfield Police Department dispatched officers to Arista Flats at 8200 Arista Place in response to a disturbance involving Aisha Quest. Police alleged that she was armed and had locked herself inside an apartment.

The situation escalated, prompting the deployment of the Broomfield Police Department SWAT team. SWAT officers used flashbang grenades and a battering ram to breach the apartment in an attempt to apprehend Quest. During the confrontation, Quest allegedly pointed a firearm at officers. SWAT officers fired their weapons, striking her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On 09/08/2024, 26-year-old Rhyker Earl experienced a seizure at his residence on Bahama Drive in the Island Grove Mobile Home Park, DeMotte, Indiana. His grandmother called 911 for medical assistance. Jasper County Sheriff's deputies and paramedics arrived on the scene.

While in a postictal state—a period of confusion following a seizure—Earl reportedly became agitated. Family members stated that during this state, Earl accidentally bumped into a responder. In response, deputies restrained Earl by pinning him face-down on the floor and handcuffing his hands behind his back. Body camera footage shows Earl pleading for relief, saying, "Grandma, please, make 'em get off of me."

Approximately two minutes after Earl stopped moving, first responders noticed he wasn't breathing. They initiated CPR and transported him to a hospital, where he was placed on life support. Earl died two days later, on 09/10/2024.

The Lake County Coroner's autopsy determined that Earl died of natural causes with no evidence of trauma. However, Earl's family disputes this finding, asserting that the restraint methods used by deputies contributed to his death. Deputies located Patterson, now armed with a rifle. When officers attempted to communicate with him, Patterson turned toward them while holding the rifle. At this point, multiple officers fired their weapons, striking Patterson several times. Patterson was airlifted to a local hospital. He died from his injuries 13 days later, on September 20, 2024.

Patterson, a U.S. Army veteran with PTSD who served in Iraq and worked as a postal carrier for ten years, left behind three children. Neighbors suggested that Patterson was experiencing personal difficulties and may have been in a mental health crisis.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation at the request of the involved agencies. Upon completion, the findings will be reviewed by the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney. The exact number of officers who discharged their weapons and the number of shots fired have not been disclosed.

n September 7, 2024, at approximately 4:10 p.m., deputies from the Bradford County Sheriff's Office attempted to perform a traffic stop on 43-year-old Justin Hogg. Hogg accelerated, crashed into one of the patrol vehicles, and fled on foot into a nearby pond. Deputies pursued him and jumped into the pond to pull him back to shore. While awaiting medical assistance, Hogg collapsed. He was transported to a local emergency room, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

Gary Lee McCartney had allegedly gotten into an argument with a neighbor and pointed a gun. Police were called and arrived, saw him point gun through his window and brought the special emergency response team SERT. Officers surrounded the trailer and when they spotted him with a gun, they shot and killed him.
