Sarasota County deputies escalated a chase against a driver for unknown reasons. The driver did not stop and the deputy attacked the vehicle with a PIT maneuver. The deputy alleged that somehow, in the process, the driver tried to ram her patrol vehicle and she shot and killed him. So far, no eyewitnesses or objective evidence have been located to compare to the official police narrative. It is unclear whether the “ramming” was connected to losing control during a PIT maneuver or a true attempt to drive toward the officer. No dashcam video for verification is available.
