Around 8 p.m. on August 3, 2023, police responded to a shots-fired call at the Spring Creek Apartments along East 15th Street between South Boulevard and South Bryant Avenue. The caller was a woman called saying she shot her brother. She also told 911 that she was Edmond police Lt. Jennifer Haddock. She had gotten into an argument with her brother Sean Haddock over ownership of some furniture and pulled out a .40 caliber handgun when he walked toward her and shot and killed him. First-degree manslaughter charges were filed against her.
