NARRATIVE:
On 10/27/2023, 30-year-old Anthony Wayne Grant of Elkhart was killed when his Chevrolet Cruze was struck by a semi-truck at County Road 1100 East and State Road 120 in LaGrange County after a multi-county police pursuit that began in Michigan.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., a Branch County Sheriff’s Department deputy attempted to stop Grant for speeding in Sherwood Township, Michigan. The pursuit continued through Matteson Township, west into St. Joseph County toward Burr Oak, back into Branch County and eventually south across the state line into Indiana.

Grant was traveling south on County Road 1100 East at a high rate of speed when the Chevrolet went through the stop sign at State Road 120 and was struck broadside by an eastbound semi-truck hauling potatoes. Grant was pronounced dead at the scene.
