OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A man with a rifle allegedly tried to break into a hotel room. Alaska State Police arrived and shot and killed him. He was identified as Timothy Thomas, age 21. His family stated that the same trooper had previously twice arrested Thomas. Police state that the same trooper was present when Thomas' father died from suicide under police duress during a standoff. This is denied by police.
According to family, he had purchased a gun legally and had walked back to the hotel where he was staying. He did not break into any rooms but instead tried to enter a room that he had rented with his cousins who were asleep. Someone saw him, mistook him for a burglar, called police who came and shot and killed him. Details in links below.
