REASON FOR CHASE: Stolen vehicle.

NARRATIVE: On 11/07/2023, an unidentified driver was killed when a stolen 2022 Toyota RAV4 fleeing a Porter County sheriff’s deputy crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 12 and struck the victim’s eastbound 2003 Pontiac Vibe head-on. At approximately 1:43 p.m., the deputy was pursuing the stolen RAV4 westbound on U.S. 12 from the area of the Pines. The pursuit continued past State Road 49, where the RAV4 crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into the Pontiac. The Pontiac driver sustained fatal injuries. The RAV4 driver survived and was taken into custody. Indiana State Police conducted the crash reconstruction investigation.
