Milwaukie PD traffic-stopped Hunter Newton reportedly refused to get out of his vehicle at a Taco Bell parking lot. Police alleged that he was driving with a suspended license and that they had to forcibly remove him from his vehicle during which time it was shot and killed. At least two bystanders who witnessed the fatal shooting dispute, the police narrative, and state that Newton had cooperated and gotten out of his vehicle with his hands up and appeared injured. The DA confirmed that he had been unarmed.

On September 30, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., corrections deputies at Pierce County Jail in Tacoma, Washington, found 35-year-old inmate Sabrina Voeller unresponsive in a housing unit. Voeller was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been booked into the jail shortly after midnight on September 29, 2024, and died several hours later. Investigators believe she may have ingested drugs prior to her arrival at the facility.

Washington State Patrol chased a vehicle for a moving violation. On September 28, 2024, Port St. Lucie Police responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Northwest Marion Avenue. Upon arrival, they found 50-year-old Paul Simon Fialho with an open propane tank and a lighter, and his wife restrained with zip ties inside the home.

Valencia deputies were called to the 100 block of Ladera Road in Los Lunas for a man arguing with neighbors and firing a gun. The officers were not able to resolve this and returned multiple times. During their last visit, they saw the quarrelsome man point guns at his neighbor, Michael Gabaldon who was allegedly defending himself on his property. Police shot and killed Gabaldon, stating he had a gun. Neighbors and his family in unison said that Gabaldon had been a “very good” person and the other neighbor was constantly threatening everyone in the neighborhood. Police were reportedly aware of this because there had allegedly been a number of similar previous incident involving this neighbor. Michael Gabaldon had been a former sheriff's deputy.

Mesa Police officers engaged Edward Johnson, 37, during an attempted traffic stop while he was riding a bicycle near Crismon and Broadway Roads on 09/29/2024. Officers pursued Johnson after he continued biking away, eventually encountering him near a canal. Police claimed Johnson pointed what appeared to be a firearm at them, prompting officers to shoot him. Johnson was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Plano PD were sent to a home in the 3800 block of Pratt Street for a “shots fired” call. Police found Russell Novak, 70, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. His son Nicolas Novak had fled the residence. Police located him and escalated a chase from Plano to Aurora including with helicopters. Police allege that Nicholas Novak stopped the vehicle, got out and pointed a gun at a deputy. A deputy and a Plano officer shot and killed him.

On September 28, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a man contacted the Lone Tree Police Department, reporting that he had fired a shot inside his apartment and was experiencing suicidal thoughts. Officers from the Lone Tree Police Department, along with deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and a mental health clinician, responded to the scene in the 12000 block of Roosevelt Lane in unincorporated Douglas County.

Upon arrival, crisis negotiators engaged the man via phone, urging him to exit the apartment peacefully. Approximately an hour later, around 7:20 p.m., the man emerged from the residence armed with a handgun, discharged a round into the air, and then pointed the weapon at the deputies. In response, several deputies fired at the man, who was subsequently transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an investigation into the incident. As of now, the man's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Omaha PD traffic-stopped Steven Phipps and allege that he got out of the vehicle, did not cooperate, climbed over a fence and fled with a gun. Police allegedly shot him in his back and killed him. It is unknown why police shot a fleeing man.

On September 28, 2024, a San Diego Sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an alleged infraction. The situation escalated into an attempted arrest involving narcotics charges. During the incident, two individuals were detained while Gene Stewart ran into a nearby car dealership. He then hid inside a tow truck, where officers located him. The situation escalated further, and police shot and killed Stewart.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Smyrna Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at Adventure Outdoors, located at 2500 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia. Upon arrival, an employee informed officers that a man was inside the business. Officers located 21-year-old Emilio Aguilar of Marietta inside the store and instructed him to exit. Once outside, as officers attempted to place Aguilar into custody, he broke free and began firing a rifle slung around his neck, striking two Smyrna officers in the leg. Three Cobb County police officers, who had arrived on the scene to assist, returned fire, fatally wounding Aguilar. The two injured Smyrna officers were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

On September 27, 2024, Little Rock Police initiated a high-speed pursuit after observing a driver allegedly operating a vehicle erratically. Vancouver Police were called to the Walnut Grove Area of Vancouver, Washington, where a man had allegedly threatened a neighbor and fired shots in the air. Police arrived and escalated a standoff involving Vancouver Police, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and SWAT. Police alleged at the man had slashed tires and was seen with a handgun. A drone was sent and reportedly documented the man to have a rifle. Police brought an armed vehicle, deployed flashbang grenades and engaged in a shootout with the man. Police shot and killed him.

On September 27, 2024, deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in Pomona Park, Florida. When they arrived, they found 52-year-old Emmanuel Lee Vestal inside the home, reportedly with a firearm. He refused to comply with officers' demands to exit the house.

A SWAT team was called in. SWAT deployed chemical agents, including CS gas, to force Vestal out. Despite this, Vestal remained locked inside and allegedly fired at deputies. In the ensuing gunfire, Vestal was killed.

On 09/26/2024, deputies from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun in the 100 block of Nicholas Street. Officers arrived and confronted 58-year-old Charles Verdin, who was seen with what appeared to be a firearm. Law enforcement alleged that Verdin pointed the weapon toward officers, and deputies opened fire, striking him multiple times. Verdin was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.

It was later determined that Verdin was in possession of a replica airsoft gun and was unarmed. Investigators have not disclosed the names of the deputies involved in the shooting.

On 09/26/2024, officers from the St. Paul Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Lowertown Lofts Artist Cooperative, located at 255 E Kellogg Blvd in St. Paul, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man fatally shot at the scene, identified as the victim of a homicide. Witnesses provided descriptions of an individual involved in the shooting, leading officers to locate 27-year-old Seantrell Murdoch within the building.

Police confronted Murdoch, who was reportedly armed. After a brief interaction, officers opened fire, fatally striking him. Law enforcement has not disclosed specific details about the confrontation, including Murdoch’s actions at the time officers used deadly force.

Murdoch was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that body cameras worn by the officers were active during the encounter. Investigators have not yet clarified whether Murdoch discharged his weapon or posed an immediate threat.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is conducting an independent investigation into the incident. The findings will be reviewed by the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office to determine whether the officers' actions complied with policy and law.

On 09/26/2024, Yuba County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Donn Moore near Marysville Road in Browns Valley, California. Moore reportedly continued driving, initiating a 30-minute police pursuit that ended near the 2600 block of CA-20 when his vehicle became disabled. On September 25, 2024, Gregory Maxwell, 37, from Springfield, Illinois, was shot and killed by St. Louis police officers during a mental health crisis. On 09/25/2024, a man armed with a gun hijacked an MTA bus in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The bus driver activated a silent emergency alarm, alerting law enforcement. LAPD officers and SWAT teams pursued the bus for an hour as it moved through Los Angeles. During the standoff, police deployed spike strips to halt the bus near S. Alameda Street. Tactical officers used flashbangs to enter the vehicle and apprehended the suspect, identified as Lamont Campbell.

On 09/24/2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post for a domestic situation involving a shooting and a man who had locked himself in a home near South 4th Street in Merom, Indiana.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis for further medical care; her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

The man, 53-year-old Tony G. Maree, had locked himself inside the residence. Officers established a perimeter around the home, and the Sullivan County Sheriff requested assistance from the Terre Haute Police Department Emergency Response Team.

After several unsuccessful verbal and tactical attempts to contact Maree, the response team entered the residence and found him deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
