OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 31, 2023, shortly after 6 a.m., Baltimore County PD attempted to arrest Brian McCourry for unknown warrants. McCourry initially fled, hit another vehicle in the parking lot in the process that was an unmarked police vehicle also. When he exited the vehicle, Baltimore detective J. Trenary opened fire on him. McCourry was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he died a month later. No BWC footage exists because for unclear reasons, Baltimore County Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Support Team does not have them and also does not have dashcam cameras, leaving the public without choice but to trust statements by police only without public ability of independent verification of police reports. No officers were charged.
