OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Eagle PD responded to a call about a domestic disturbance between Leoni and his domestic partner on the 200 block of Beard Creek Road in Edwards, CO. Police allege he opened the door with a gun. He was apparently immediately shot dead. His partner was very frustrated with police and stated that she could get no answers about this killing, was denied autopsy result, was financially unable to pay for burial and had total lack of cooperation from the PD after the killing. Colorado is a common-law state and his partner was entitled to his death certificate and autopsy results but was denied this right by police.
The partner, a local business woman, hired attorney Marhoffer who said that Leoni had no prior criminal record, history of violence of “anything in his past that would lead to the conclusion that this was a necessary event that occurred in that house that night.”
No officers were charged.
