On the night of February 15, 2024, a Rock Hill Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger for defective lights as the vehicle turned left onto Harper Gault Road from Saluda Road. Upon activation of the patrol vehicle's blue lights, the driver, later identified as Tyland Archer, did not stop. As the officer approached the intersection of Harper Gault and Oakdale roads, the Challenger was found wrecked in the wood line. The vehicle had collided with a tree, resulting in significant damage. The passenger, Justin Villanueva, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Leonard had just arrested a female on a bridge who was fighting with a man when he disappeared from radio contact. His cruiser was found upside down submerged under mud and water in the Tennessee River. .A handcuffed female was found drowned in the backseat of the vehicle when the vehicle was found underwater upside down. There was no trace of Deputy Leonard. His body was later found in the river. Deputy Leonard was new in the area, having moved from NYC only a few months prior. It was 9 p.m. and dark. He was not familiar with the area. According to police, he was distracted radioing and texting when he went in the water.

On February 11, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM, officers from the Cumming Police Department responded to a report of shoplifting at the Target store on Marketplace Boulevard in Cumming, Georgia. The store's loss prevention team identified 32-year-old Robert Cornelious Powell of Brooklyn, New York. Upon arrival, officers observed Powell in the parking lot with items believed to be stolen. As officers approached, Powell fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. After a brief pursuit, Powell surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers noticed an injury to Powell's leg, and he reported difficulty breathing. On February 13, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Southfield Police officers received an ALPR alert on a white 2003 Kia sedan reported stolen out of Detroit on February 5. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Jarrell Dewand Newman III of Taylor, Michigan, did not stop. Police escalated a chase, accelerating speeds northbound on Evergreen Road. Newman lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a reinforced fence near a DTE substation between Westhampton and Westover. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kassandra Lozano was a passenger in the car of off-duty officer Pedro Lozano who crashed into a vehicle on the side of the road that had stopped to help a vehicle rolled over in the ditch. The officer in a Corvette smashed into the Good Samaritans’ vehicle, killing Kassandra Lozano and critically injuring one of the Good Samaritans and officer Lozano. On February 12, 2024, at around 1:06 PM, the Lake Havasu City Police attempted to stop a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro after it was observed speeding near Acoma Blvd S and Demaret Dr. The vehicle fled from officers but was not pursued initially. Police later saw the Camaro again committing traffic violations at Sweetwater Ave and McCulloch Blvd S. After another failed traffic stop attempt, the driver fled again, leading to a low-speed pursuit north on Sweetwater Ave. The chase continued southbound on State Route 95 before the driver of the Camaro crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2004 Beaver Motorhome. The Camaro's driver, identified as 49-year-old Adam Zink, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A passenger in the motorhome was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Lake Havasu City Police Department's Crash Team is handling the investigation.

Officers deployed spike strips. The second vehicle, a 2020 Kia Forte, continued northbound on Sunfield Highway near Bippley Road in Sebewa Township, where it lost control and struck a tree. A female passenger from Lansing was pronounced dead at the crash site. The other occupants were transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing with injuries.

On 02/08/2024, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a man reportedly armed with a knife at the intersection of Hamner Avenue and 6th Street in Norco, California. Police encountered Kenneth Andrew Soto, 62, and allege he refused to drop the knife when ordered. Officers then shot and killed Soto during the confrontation. Investigations into the shooting are being conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and oversight agencies.
