OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A trespassing call turned into a man locking himself in withJackson County Sheriff’s deputies bearing down on William E. Beach. He was found to be noncompliant with house arrest for a previous incident of hitting an officer. This time, police tracked him to an unauthorized location in violation of his house arrest. Police breached the door and claim that Beach pointed a gun. Police deployed a taser and fired shots. Beach died in the hospital several hours later. He is not accused of any crimes and police gave “trespassing” outside of the boundaries of house arrest as reason that escalated a chain of events. Police allege that a deputy “felt threatened” and also declined to answer whether he was armed. Police did not provide BWC videos. The narrative of events has been provided by police only.The officers were cleared by the Attorney General.
