Black Mountain PD allegedly attempted a traffic stop on a man with an unknown previous criminal history who fled, crashed into the side of a motel and locked himself into the motel with a gun. About 35 officers from Black Mountain PD, Montreat PD, Asheville PD and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the motel according to Black Mountain PD Chief Parker. After a SWAT siege for an unknown length of time, the man allegedly fired a shot in an unknown direction and a second shot, killing himself under police duress.
